Winning Ways Continue with a Nottingham Double

Our good run of form continued on Saturday (4th July) at Nottingham, where we enjoyed a memorable double as two three-year-olds recorded their first career victories in consecutive races.
First to strike was Courageous Sioux, an exciting filly who has only recently joined the yard. Owned by Jeremy and Jason Young, who we are delighted to have on board this year, the lightly raced three-year-old was making just her second career start and her first appearance where she was clearly very green. She couldn't have returned in more pleasing fashion.
Ridden positively by Georgia Dobie, Courageous Sioux broke well before settling into a handy position just behind the leader. The front-runner proved a determined rival and the race was still very much in the balance entering the final furlong, but Georgia always looked to have plenty in hand. Gradually wearing down the leader, the pair asserted in the closing stages to pull clear and score by a comfortable length and a half.
After such a lengthy spell away from the track, it was a very encouraging performance and a wonderful way to begin her campaign. We look forward to seeing how she can continue to progress from here.

The celebrations continued in the very next race as Charlie Boyo also got off the mark over six furlongs in the handicap, giving Georgia a well-deserved double on the evening.
Although he was a little slow into stride, which helped him settle into a nice rhythm, Georgia was happy to allow him to find his rhythm just off the pace, with the race developing at a strong gallop from the outset. Travelling smoothly throughout, she gradually edged closer along the inside before asking him to quicken entering the final furlong. Responding generously, the pair found plenty when it mattered most to get on top close home and prevail by half a length.
It was a thoroughly deserved success for Paul and Clare Rooney, whose patience with Charlie Boyo has now been rewarded, and it was particularly satisfying to see of these both horses gain the confidence that comes with getting their heads in front for the first time.
