It was a very pleasing result at Bath on Thursday (9th October), as Visually made a winning start to his career when landing the Novice Stakes over five furlongs.
Breaking smartly from the stalls, he was soon into a nice rhythm tucked in behind, just off the early pace. With Rossa Ryan on board, his jockey gave him a lovely balanced ride, allowing him to settle into the race and find his stride before asking him to quicken through the closing stages. Hitting the front just over a furlong from home, he showed a touch of greenness with too much daylight but kept on strongly to win by a comfortable length and a half.
A half-brother to two sprint winners, Visually has shown a professional attitude at home, and it’s encouraging to see that translate to the track at the first time of asking. He’s a nice type with scope to progress further as he gains experience.
This was a very promising debut, and we look forward to seeing this colt develop even more as he heads towards his three-year-old campaign. A very nice result for his owner, Jeff Smith, who looks to have a smart juvenile on his hands.
