Two-Year-Old Winning Debut for Succession at Bath

The Beechdown team were in great spirits on Monday (1st May), as we celebrated our first two-year-old turf victory this season, with Succession in the Maiden Stakes at Bath.

Following his first outing two weeks before the colt’s debut in April showcased a promise for speed, but conditions weren’t in our favour and this left him outranked on the day, finishing in fourth place. Having digested this first performance, his return to the track showed a much stronger campaign and we were delighted to see him run on smartly, as Kieran Shoemark brought him home in a start to finish lead over the five furlongs.

This talented colt is out of Showcasing, the only stallion known for his accolade to have sired two Group 1 Commonwealth Cup winners amongst a recent multitude of Group 1 successes, so we are eager to see how this precocious sprinter evolves. He will come on even further from this run as he strengthens mentally and physically, which presents an exciting prospect for his owner Jason Goddard.
