Tropical Heat landed her winning debut in fine style on Fridy (25th July) in a competitive contest over 7f at Sandown, turning up the heat late under a well-judged ride from Saffie Osborne.

Owned by Jeff Smith, the three-year-old came into the race just a week after a strong second at Haydock and took full advantage of being 4lb well-in, running off the same mark. The stiffer Sandown finish proved to be in her favour, as she stayed on gamely under pressure.

Quick from the stalls, the filly was sent forward early to take up a front running position and remained close to the pace throughout. On the turn for home, Saffie made a decisive move in the last quarter of a mile, where we saw the pair regain the lead. Despite hanging inside the closing stages, the filly kept on strongly to seal a deserved victory and won by 1¾ lengths.

A progressive type, this was a really nice performance that now sees this filly get off the mark. Poised for further success, we look forwards to seeing more from her as the season continues.
