After breaking his maiden earlier this season at Chester, we were thrilled to see Song of the Clyde add another impressive victory to his record with a shining performance in the lucrative Harry’s Half Million by Goffs at York on Thursday (21st August).
Racing over six furlongs under a perfectly judged ride from Rossa Ryan, the two-year-old colt produced a polished and determined display, hitting the line strongly to score by three-quarters of a length. Breaking smartly, Rossa settled him into a lovely rhythm in midfield before creeping into contention with poise and patience. Two furlongs out, the colt quickened smartly and showed a tremendous turn of foot to fend off his rivals in closing stages. In a fiercely competitive field of 21 runners, his performance stood out for his speed, class and growing maturity.
This progressive colt continues to thrive with every run, and his latest success marks him as a racehorse of real promise as he looks ahead to his three-year-old campaign next season. The win also carries extra significance, as it completes a remarkable hat-trick for us in this race: following Diligiently who won it back in 2023, and Dragon Leader in 2024. Song of the Clyde now joins the roll of honour and underlines our proud record in this contest.
A huge well done to everyone at home and to his syndicate owners at Middleham Park Racing on a fantastic result.
