Satellite of Love’s Listed Success with Two-Year-Old Trophy Victory

It was another wonderful day of racing at the weekend, as the progressive two-year-old Satellite of Love landed his first Listed success in the Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar on Saturday (3rd October).

With a very encouraging ride from Paul Mulrennan, the pair broke well from a middle draw and were quick to track over, establishing a prominent position on the far rail. Hitting the front with three furlongs to go, it was clear he was travelling strongly, and Paul did an excellent job of keeping any greenness at bay as they continued to push towards the line, winning by a length and a quarter.

Having already recorded wins at both Windsor and Newbury earlier in the season, before finishing in a commendable fifth place in the Harry’s Half Million by Goffs at the York Ebor Festival, followed by finishing as the runner-up last time out in the Weatherby’s £300,000 Two-Year-Old Stakes, it’s clear he has shown plenty of promise in some of the most competitive and valuable juvenile races so far this season. Having been knocking on the door of a success of this nature so early in his career, to now see that promise rewarded with a Listed victory is particularly pleasing and reflection of the progression he has made throughout his first campaign.

Having previously won this race back in 2023 with Dragon Leader, it’s also pleasing to see familiarities between the two colts, and how they have followed similar paths as two-year-olds. To see Satellite of Love now achieve that same feat, having shown the same steady progression and promise throughout the season, is particularly rewarding and we are delighted to see his potential beginning to translate into results on the track.

A very well done to the owning connections at Middleham Park Racing on this exciting result. All being well, he will now be targeting the Conditions race at Ascot on Champions Day on his well earned rating of 105.
