James’s Delight Wins Handicap at Pontefract

Following his winter break, we were thrilled to see James’s Delight return to the track in fighting form with an impressive 6½ length triumph, prevailing the heavy and undulating conditions over six furlongs at Pontefract on Tuesday (2nd April). After a very promising start to his juvenile career with a winning debut first time out, we are so pleased the now gelded three-year-old has set about this season with a winning attitude once again; with this occasion marking his second career success for his owners, Paul & Clare Rooney.

Leading the field from four furlongs out, under the tactical steer of Daniel Tudhope, the uphill finish proved no trouble for him as he pulled away from the pack in a remarkable fashion, putting an easy distance between him and his rivals with every stride. He is a horse who likes to battle and finishes his races with a strong gallop, but this was a terrific result and symbol of his stamina and pace on such testing ground. We look forward to more from him this year as he continues to flourish.
