It was great to be back racing on the renowned turf at Ascot on Friday (9th May), and the day was made even more exciting with a commanding performance from Fearnot, who stormed to victory in the handicap stakes with an emphatic four-and-a-half-length win.
Racing over the straight mile, Rossa Ryan gave the three-year-old a textbook ride – settling him after the break behind early pace-setters, where he continued to travel well and quietly build momentum. Always looking poised, he had plenty left which was made even more evident when Rossa pulled him onto the nearside and the colt shifted gears effortlessly, responding with a decisive turn of foot. This was his first time on quicker ground, which only seemed to lend an advantage to his winning margin in this competitive race.
After a striking winning debut earlier this year, this occasion marks his second career win. With each run, he continues to demonstrate his class and potential, maintaining an unblemished form that is yet to see him finish outside of the frame. Friday’s confident display confirms the significant scope he possesses, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds with some key meetings still to come. A very well done to his owner, Jason Goddard, as well as the team at home.
