Following a winter break after her debut outing at Wolverhampton, where we saw the two-year-old filly finish fourth in November, Crimson Angel claimed a winning victory with her second maiden run on the all-weather at Lingfield on Saturday (25th February).
Running over the 5f sprint distance, with John Fahy in the saddle, we were delighted to see her showcase some classy winning ability, as the Harry Angel offspring demonstrated both speed and maturity in her approach to this race. Despite breaking away slowly, Crimson Angel quickly showed pace and gained a prominent position on the outside in second, sitting in close contention tracking the early leader. The turn for home was when we saw her really change gear as she went on to challenge her previous competitor, Soaring Eagle, in fantastic style with two furlongs to go. Crossing the line in front comfortably, she won by 1¼ lengths.
It was really pleasing to see how she has improved from her last run, and how her training at home has resonated in this performance. We are really excited to see how this homebred’s racing capabilities unfold as we progress further with her education. We now look ahead to her next outing with promise, as she’s entered in the Fillies Novice at Wolverhampton next Monday.
