It was a promising start from Blue Courvoisier on Monday (8th September), who announced himself in style on his debut at Leicester, with a decisive 1½ length success in the Novice Stakes for his owners, Alan Spence and Ify Madueke.
A 100,000gns purchase and half-brother to the useful sprinters Miraculous and Sacred Jewel, the two-year-old showed plenty of ability on the first time of asking. Quickly into stride, he travelled smoothly in a handy position before being produced to challenge at halfway. Extending nicely when asked, he showcased a willing and professional attitude, gaining confidence with every stride and finished strongly.
His pedigree, coupled with the manner of this debut performance, suggests there could be more to come. This colt looks a smart juvenile in the making and this promising first outing should only bring him on further and he will surely come into his own even more next season.
