Back-to-Back Handicap Success for Keep Kicking On

Winning last time out over the same course and distance, we were delighted to see Keep Kicking On back in the winner’s enclosure on Monday evening at Windsor, after coming home in front to land his second consecutive Handicap title.

With only five runners, it was a tactical affair. As he has shown in previous starts, he can be inclined to race a little too freely in the early stages, so Hector Crouch did a good job of finding some cover in the field, settling him in behind the early leaders.

Down towards the final two furlongs, it was clear they had set about a strong pace, but Hector had kept him in a nice rhythm positioned on the outside, where they patiently waited to make their move. Aptly named, the horse kept kicking on towards the line, resulting in a tight finish to win by a short head.

This was another really pleasing run from this two-year-old, who has remained consistent since his last performance less than three weeks ago. The handicapper had moved him up 5lbs since then, so it’s particularly encouraging to see him back that up under his revised mark.

He is continuing to strengthen and grow, which is always an exciting stage in a young colt’s development, and there should be plenty more to come from him as he continues to progress.
