Asgar Lands Debut Success in Yarmouth Handicap

As another of our two-year-olds got off the mark this week, we were delighted to see Asgar make a winning performance over seven furlongs in the Nursery Handicap at Yarmouth on Tuesday (15th September).

Getting away nicely from the stalls, he was quick to establish a good rhythm and travelled strongly just behind the leaders. When asked for more by Hector Crouch in the closing stages, he responded gamely, thundering down the outside to pull clear and win convincingly by three and a half lengths. 

It was really pleasing to see him show plenty of determination when challenged and do such a good job of finding his momentum again when it mattered most. The step up to seven furlongs clearly suited him, while his mature approach to the race was another encouraging aspect of the performance. This builds nicely on the strong run we saw from him earlier in the season at Goodwood and confirms the early promise he has been showing at home.

He is sired by Supremacy, who we had the pleasure of training to Group 1-winning level, so he is an exciting young horse with plenty more to look forward to.
