We were delighted to see The Dragon King return to winning form on Monday evening (24th November), landing a competitive 7f handicap at Wolverhampton with a determined performance and a winning margin of half a length.
Under a confident ride from Hector Crouch, he was sharp from the stalls and quickly found his rhythm, travelling smoothly in a midfield position. As the race unfolded, he was forced wide on the home turn but responded gamely, lengthening with purpose through the final furlong and gaining momentum with each stride. Staying on strongly, he showcased real tenacity to the line with plenty to like about the way in which he did so.
This success holds added significance as it marks his first success for over a year, and only his third appearance on the all-weather surface. It also represents the first time he has stepped back up in trip following his wind operation earlier in the season, so it’s encouraging to see that benefit him with this performance.
Congratulations to his connections at Middleham Park Racing, whose patience and belief in him have been rewarded. We hope this result will serve nicely as a platform for further progress throughout the winter.
