A Winning Double to Kick Off the Week

Monday (15th June) brought a tremendous result as we welcomed two winning performances, across fixtures at both Chepstow and Windsor.

The first success came courtesy of Miss Kodi in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Chepstow. The promising two-year-old offspring of Kodi Bear made a striking impression on debut, producing a thoroughly professional performance to score by an outstanding seven lengths.

From the moment she entered the paddock, she displayed a notably calm and composed demeanour – always an encouraging sign from a newcomer. Carrying that attitude down to the start, she settled well and took everything comfortably in her stride. With Rossa Ryan on board, she broke smartly and was quickly away, finding a nice rhythm over the six furlongs, tracking the early leaders and always travelling well throughout.

Still moving strongly as they approached two furlongs from home, she was the last horse to come off the bridle but quickened decisively when under pressure. Once asked to lengthen, she showed an excellent turn of foot, gamely putting daylight between herself and her rivals with every stride to draw clear in an emphatic fashion.

We were absolutely delighted with this debut performance. To see a young filly show such professionalism and ability on her first racecourse appearance is particularly pleasing, and she has given an indication there is plenty to look forwards to in the future. Congratulations to her owners, Alison Jones, Danny Major and connections on this wonderful result.

Later in the evening, Diligently completed the double when landing the Fitzdares Spring Series Qualifier as part of the evening card at Windsor.

Having already had a couple of runs under his belt this season, he came into this race in good order despite being unlucky on his last outing over the same course and distance. Despite the two non-runners, we were facing a challenge with the widest draw but thankfully David Probert was quick into action and got him into a good position from the break, allowing him to track across and settle just off the pace.

Travelling strongly throughout, Diligently always appeared in contention and not far from striking distance he moved through the race with purpose as the field approached closing stages.  Final strides saw a closely fought battle, but he showed admirable determination to fend off his nearest rival by a neck. It was a performance marked with tenacity and courage, and we were delighted to see him gain a well-deserved success.

This victory now qualifies his place in the August final giving us plenty to look forward to later in the summer. Many congratulations to his owner, Jason Goddard, on this fantastic result.
