A Winning Double at Haydock

This weekend was an exciting one, as the Beechdown Stables team accomplished a winning double with Whoputfiftyinyou and Ascot Adventure, on Saturday 21st May at Haydock.

The three-year-old, Whoputfiftyinyou, kicked things off with his 6-1 victory in the 1m Cazoo Silver Bowl Handicap under the steer of jockey, David Probert. Breaking and racing as a backmarker, he appeared to be out of contention as David chased him along, but he smartly made his move two-furlongs from home on the outside. An impressive turn of foot saw him outpace the field and get the better of the favourite in the closing stages, to finish strongly in front by half a length. An exciting win for the Rooney’s, and once again we were delighted to see this horse finish in front making this an impressive fourth win from four starts.

Later that day, saw success for the 10-3 favourite, Ascot Adventure, with Adam Kirby in the saddle over the 7f distance in the Cazoo New Boston Handicap. Breaking well, he settled to find the rail midfield before Adam pushed him along three furlongs from home. Finding plenty of pressure, the closing stages saw him narrow the gap and he too finished strongly with a half-length lead over the line. We are very pleased to see him get his head in front for the first time this season and delighted for all connections involved.
