A Successful Saturday of Runners

It was an exciting day of racing for the Beechdown team on Saturday as Redorange was first to kick things off, rising to victory to secure his first Listed success at York.
Coming into this race, the four-year-old already presented consistent form as a triple Handicap winner, so we knew he was well equipped to handle the company, but this race has previously shown itself to be a strong Listed five-furlong contest, so we couldn’t be more pleased with how he demonstrated his sprinting capabilities with this performance.
With PJ McDonald in the saddle for the first time, the pair were always travelling well which was made all the more apparent with two furlongs from home. Chasing down the line, there were still plenty of front runners in contention, and it still appeared a challenge to get home, but after a very determined ride they gained with every stride and edged out the competition to win by a neck.
This was a tremendous achievement for the horse, who thoroughly deserved this win. A huge congratulations to his owner, Sheikh Sultan, who celebrates this Listed level triumph.

Elsewhere fixtures took the team to Newmarket, where our rising star Coppull was entered in the July Cup. Although he didn’t win the race, it was a near miss and he finished in a very credible fourth place, after putting in a courageous performance that meant he was only beaten by a length and half.
To finish under such a close margin to the winner in an internationally acclaimed Group 1 like this makes us all incredibly proud. This not only marks a career best for this colt but proves the talent and ability he holds as a three-year-old sprinter. It brings much excitement to know his potential has cemented him at the highest level and we look forward to exploring our next steps with him.
