A Smart Debut for Showmaster
The all-weather at Kempton played host to a winning performance from Showmaster on Monday evening (26th October), as the two-year-old colt got off the mark at the second time of asking, pulling clear to win by an impressive three lengths.
Having finished third on his debut, he returned to the track with valuable experience under his belt and settled into a prominent position early on, tracking the front-runner from the outside in a comfortable third. Ridden along by Rossa Ryan, he began to find another gear inside the final quarter of a mile, hitting the front and stretching clear of his rivals to secure a decisive victory.
He could possibly handle a step up to a mile, but this was a thoroughly rewarding first success for this promising juvenile, and one we hope will be the first of many. A strong colt, Showmaster is one we have taken our time with as he continues to develop mentally and physically, but it’s clear that Jason Goddard has another exciting prospect on his hands.
