A Courageous York Finish for Blue Courvoisier

After a near miss at Glorious Goodwood, where he finished in a respectable third, it was marvellous to see Blue Courvoisier return to winning ways in the mile handicap at the Ebor Festival at York on Friday (21st August).

Dropping back to a mile, which looks to be his preferred distance, certainly seemed to suit him, and this was made all the more apparent by a determined, start-to-finish winning performance. With Rossa Ryan on board, they were away smartly from the stalls and soon established a strong pace, which could perhaps have left them vulnerable to a late challenge. However, the colt was always travelling with great fluency throughout and, as the pressure mounted in the closing stages, his tenacious attitude once again came to fruition. He battled bravely all the way to the line, ultimately maintaining a comfortable length and a half advantage to secure a thoroughly deserved success.

Now a three-year-old, this colt has shown plenty of promise since his debut campaign, and we have always felt there was a good deal of ability and potential there. Having also trained his dam, Priceless, there is a lovely family connection, which makes his success all the more satisfying.

Many congratulations to his owners, Alan Spence and Ify Madueke, and a very well done to Rossa, whose confidence in the horse right up to the line was duly rewarded with this fine victory.
